Orthography (वर्णविचार)

Definition: The art of writing words with the proper letters according to standard usage is called Orthography.

मानक उपयोग के अनुसार उचित अक्षरों के साथ शब्दों को लिखने की कला को वर्णविचार कहा जाता है।

LETTERS: A Letter is a person used in printing or writing, to represent an articulate sound.

अक्षर एक वर्ण है जिसका उपयोग एक स्पष्ट ध्वनि का प्रतिनिधित्व करने के लिए मुद्रण या लेखन में किया जाता है ।
Articulate sound: An articulate sound, is a wonderful sound produced through the organs of speech.

एक स्पष्ट ध्वनि, भाषण के अंगों द्वारा निर्मित एक विशिष्ट ध्वनि है।

The English alphabet consists of twenty-six letters ; Aa, Bb, Cc, Dd, Ee, Ff, Gg, Hh, Ii, Jj, Kk, Ll, Mm, Nn, Oo, Pp, Qq, Rr, Ss, Tt, Uu, Vv, Ww, Xx, Yy, Zz.

CLASSES OF LETTERS.

The letters are divided into two parts
  • Vowels
  • Consonants

The vowels are a, e, i, o, u, and sometimes w and y ; and are so called because they form a perfect sound when uttered alone.

स्वर a,  e,  I, o,  u और कभी-कभी w और y हैं; और इसलिए कहा जाता है क्योंकि वे अकेले होने पर एक आदर्श ध्वनि बनाते हैं।

The consonants are all the other letters of the alphabet; and are so called because they cannot be uttered without the aid of a vowel.

व्यंजन वर्णमाला के अन्य सभी अक्षर हैं; और इसलिए कहा जाता है क्योंकि वे एक स्वर की सहायता के बिना नहीं बोले जा सकते।

W and Y are consonants when they cross earlier than a vowel heard within the equal syllable; as in wine, wire, whine, ye, yet, young people: in all other instances they are vowels; as in newly, dewy, eyebrow.

CLASSES OF CONSONANTS

The consonants are divided into two parts
  • Mutes
  • Semivowels

A mute is a consonant which can not be sounded in any respect without a vowel.
एक मूक एक व्यंजन है जिसे स्वर के बिना बिल्कुल नहीं सुना जा सकता है।

The mutes are b, d, k, p, q, t, and c and g difficult. 

A semivowel is a consonant which may be imperfectly sounded with out a vowel. 
एक अर्धस्वर एक व्यंजन है जिसे स्वर के बिना अपूर्ण रूप से ध्वनि दी जा सकती है।

The semivowels are f, h,j, I, m, n, r, s, v, x, z, and c and g soft. Four of the semivowels, l, m, n, and r, are termed liquids, on account of the fluency of their sounds.
